About the Show

Step into the enchanted world of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. featuring songs from the Academy-Award winning animated feature.  Be transported to the heart of provincial life in a lovely French town. When Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maurice's daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save his life. Belle's taming of the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation back into a handsome prince is a beloved fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.

Not all cast members will be scheduled for the entire rehearsal session.  Larger roles will require a larger time commitment.  A detailed schedule will be given out in advance.  It is extremely important that you keep track of the schedule because it will vary.  Tech week (the week of the performance) will be an intensive week of rehearsals at the theater location and attendance is mandatory. There can be no absences.  Missing a mandatory rehearsal may result in being removed form the show. Due to limited rehearsal time we will not be able to go back and re-teach or re-stage scenes for students who are absent from a rehearsal.  If a cast member misses a rehearsal, they may not be placed in that particular number.   Mark any conflicts you may have and present them with your registration packet in advance.  Please do not register for this session if you expect to miss more than 3 rehearsals.

Cast members will be required to provide their own costumes. We make every effort to keep costs to a minimum and to allow flexibility and creativity.  Specific items will be required for this production.

Registration Night (early registration due)

The directors will briefly discuss information pertaining to this workshop session and will be available to answer any questions you may have.  The required registration forms (Registration Form; Liability/Photo Release; Workshop Policy Sheet; Audition Form) must be turned in to complete your early registration.  Please make sure to bring your tuition payment and conflict calendar with you.  If you are unable to attend you may register by mail or online.  Be sure to send in all forms found in the Registration Packet by the deadlines to complete your registration.  Please consult the schedule boxes above for dates/times.

Parent Meeting

A mandatory parent meeting will be scheduled. You will receive important information critical to the success of your cast member and the show.

Refund Policy (Please Read Carefully)

No refunds of tuition will be made once the cast list is announced except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, or a medical injury, serious illness or surgery not known about prior to the first workshop session.

Registered cast members will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $25 processing fee if they remove themselves from the cast before or on the first day of auditions.  Registered cast members will receive one-half refund of tuition, if they remove themselves after the first day of auditions but before the cast list is announced.  No refunds of tuition will be given to cast members removed from the cast by YAS staff for behavioral reasons.

Disruptive students will be asked to sit out of rehearsal and will not be eligible to participate in the number being taught. Any student whose behavior is deemed inappropriate by YAS staff will be dismissed from the workshop without a refund of the registration fee.  Cast members and their parents must be aware that rehearsals can be strenuous and require cast members to have the ability to focus for up to 90 minutes at a time.
