NOW CASTING

Associate Director

Young Actors Stage | Sacramento, CA

Young Actors Stage is a well-established Sacramento children's musical theater company with a track record of high-quality productions and a community of kids and families who keep coming back. We are expanding, and we are looking for the right people to grow with us.

This is a part-time position for someone who is excited about the art of musical theater and genuinely loves working with young performers. If that's you, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be part of our production team, working in rehearsals and after-school programs. Where you start and how quickly you move into lead directing will depend on your experience and how the collaboration develops. Some people will be ready to take the reins quickly. Others will want time to learn the ropes first. Either way, there's a real path here.

We'll work together to find the right rhythm. You'll bring your skills and your ideas. We'll bring 18 years of what works.

What We're Looking For

  • Musical theater performance skills. Singing, dancing, and acting with enough command to lead a room and inspire students to do their best work.

  • A love of young performers. You light up in a rehearsal room full of kids. Their energy fuels you.

  • Leadership presence. You can hold a room, give clear direction, and make people feel excited to follow your lead.

  • Reliability and commitment. We're building something long-term. We want people who want to be part of it for the long haul.

  • Openness and flexibility. You're eager to collaborate, willing to learn, and bring your own strengths to the table.

The Opportunity

This is a part-time position with a clear path toward expanded responsibility and creative leadership as the company grows. Pay is competitive, commensurate with experience, and increases with your role and your tenure with the company.

Schedule and Start Date

This position is scheduled to begin in late August 2026. Our Main Stage rehearsals run Fridays 5 to 8pm and Saturdays 2 to 5pm. After-school program sessions generally run between 1:45 and 6:15pm on weekdays depending on when the school gets out. Availability during the Friday and Saturday times is required for the fall training period, and general afternoon and evening weekday availability is important for the role long-term.

How to Apply

Our hiring process includes a Working Audition (vocals and movement) and a conversation. We want to see your skills and get a sense of who you are.
