"A person's a person, no matter how small."

About Seussical Jr

Seussical JR., adapted directly from the Broadway musical, brings the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss to life in a colorful show filled with memorable characters, humor, and heart. At its core, Seussical celebrates the value of every individual, the courage to stand up for others, and the power of friendship, loyalty, acceptance, and community.

The Cat in the Hat leads us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus as Horton the Elephant discovers a tiny world of Whos living on a speck of dust and becomes determined to protect them, even when no one else believes they exist. Along the way, Horton finds himself caring for an abandoned egg, Gertrude McFuzz discovers the importance of being true to herself, and characters from across the world of Dr. Seuss find their stories intertwined.

About After School Sessions

Our After School program gives students the opportunity to sing, dance, and act while rehearsing right on their school campus. Throughout the session, students work together to prepare a fully staged musical theater production.

Every registered student is part of the cast and participates throughout the production. Auditions offer a chance to be selected for featured roles. Along the way, cast members build performance skills, confidence, teamwork, and experience being part of a major stage production.

At the end of the session, students move from their school rehearsals to the Kennedy High School Auditorium, where they participate in tech rehearsals and take the stage in a full-scale theatrical production open to the community.

Registration & Tuition

Thanks to the generous support of the Sutterville PTA, each student will receive a $125 subsidy toward the $310 tuition, reducing the cost for Sutterville families to $185 per cast member. Thank you, Sutterville PTA!

Casting

October 6 & 8 - No rehearsal (Off for casting)

The cast list will be emailed before your first rehearsal.  Casting is one of the most difficult parts of the process.  The directors work very hard to make the puzzle fit.  Please remind your cast member that every part is important to the team and the show's success!  You can learn from any role, and shine!

After School Rehearsals

Dates: Oct 13 - Nov 19, 2026
Times: Tues (3:30-6:00pm), Thurs (2:30-5:00pm)
Location: Sutterville Multi-Purpose Room

Rehearsal schedules may vary depending on what is being rehearsed. You may not be scheduled for every rehearsal or the entire rehearsal session. You will receive a detailed schedule once the cast list has been posted. Bring your water bottle, script, pencil, and dress to dance.

Absences: Attendance is very important. Due to limited rehearsal time we will not be able to go back and re-teach or re-stage scenes for students who are absent.  You may not miss more than 3 rehearsals.  If a cast member misses a rehearsal, they may not be placed in that particular number. Include any conflicts you have on your registration form in advance.

Tech Week & Performances

Dates: Nov 30 - Dec 6, 2026

Tech week is an exciting week of rehearsals at the theater when we set the technical aspects of the show, and for the first time the cast and crew start working with sets, props, costumes, lights, sound, and spacing. Each cast will be scheduled for 3 dress rehearsals and 2 performances. Cast and crew call time is 1 hour prior to each performance.

Attendance: All tech week rehearsals and performances are mandatory. There can be no absences.  Missing a mandatory rehearsal may result in being removed from the show.
